The moment you deploy the Sync Appliance using either the Docker-based install
or the VM, an endpoint of the form https://xxxx.aeoncase.net
is associated
to your appliance. The system guarantees connectivity even if you do not have
a static IP address or are behind network address translation (NAT): there is
no need to open ports in the router or set incoming connection rules in your
firewall:
users can access the appliance with a regular browser in your
https://xxxx.aeoncase.net
endpoint
sync clients will try to connect directly to the appliance within your LAN to achieve better performance, and fall back to connecting via the endpoint elsewhere
web access to https://xxxx.aeoncase.net
is done over TLS and secured
by an automatically supplied certificate recognized by all major browsers
the internal sync service which the sync clients connect to is secured by a private certificate generated by the Sync Appliance that never leaves your server
If you have a reachable static IP, a domain name associated to it, and a corresponding SSL certificate, you can specify them in the Sync Appliance basic configuration system.
